Thanks for visiting my website. My name is Joshua Gateley. I am a sports photographer who travels nationwide covering athletes at all levels. I too started out as an athlete - at least I thought I was. When my playing days were over, I wanted a way to stay involved with the action. My passion quickly turned to capturing athletes from the sidelines and in the studio.

Born and raised a Sooner, I earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma, and followed that up with a portfolio degree in art direction/photography from Miami Ad School – Minneapolis. My education has been instrumental in helping me to communicate successfully with creative directors, art directors, and producers.

Shooting in the studio is where my photography began, but my work has expanded to shooting on location – from portraits to game action and everything in between.

When I'm not chasing down an athlete or shooting from the sidelines, I still enjoy playing sports recreationally, attempting to run with my wife, and playing with my two sons.

I have been fortunate to work with numerous clients, including, but not limited to:: ESPN Images, ESPN The Magazine, ESPN.com, the University of Oklahoma, Wilson, Louisville Slugger, EvoShield, the Denver Broncos, Major League Baseball, Getty Images, and many others.

Events that I have covered include the CFP National Championship, countless bowl games and conference championships, College GameDay, the NCAA Final Four, Men's and Women's College World Series, the MLB World Series, Summer and Winter X-Games, Monday Night Football, the XFL, NBA, ESPYs, and much more.

Special note: I am the current back-to-back titleholder of the ESPN Images Scott Clarke Award in Photographic Excellence for Those Who Like to Take Pictures (Iguana Trophy) for my work at the 2024 and 2025 CFP National Championships.
